Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Most of us will read that headline with a pronounced, familiar dialect. We will recall our favorite scene, line or character with fondness. And we will smile. Because you just can't frown when confronted with Forrest.

He has a unique way of looking at life, through Gump-colored glasses. Everyone who crosses his path gleans a pearl of wisdom. We are reminded all that is important.

And what is not.

Wouldn't our days be more tolerable, and our challenges more easily overcome if we looked at things through Forrest eyes?

Our enemies would become friends, and our problems would become opportunities. Our failures would translate into lessons, and our disappointments would morph into dreams. We would, in effect, begin to change the world in which we live. One random encounter/on-air-break at a time.

Maybe we need to have this lovable face somewhere in the studio, staring back at us. Reminding us to filter our next break thru our Forrest subconscious.

To answer that next complaint with childlike honesty.

To overcome the adversity with calm determination.

To live the example.

The Bible tells us that a soft answer will turn away anger. Most all of us have seen the movie and the character that proves this to be true. But are we wearing the t-shirt?
