OK, so that's one month down, 11 to go. Don't blink or you might miss the next three.
Especially since we don't have the traditional Rites of Spring in this industry anymore: GMA Week or the Dove Awards.
Well, we have the Dove Awards, sort of.
I mean, they won't be held in Nashville for the first time in 40 years.
All of us who normally would put on our Sunday best and drive across town to the Grand Ol' Opry or wherever they were holding the thing, now have to pack up and drive to Atlanta.
What? How does this make sense? All of us keeping the machine moving in Nashville, whether label or indie, now have to trek southward a few hours and pay money for cars and fuel and hotels and meals, etc.
Course, none of that is going to cost any of us out of our own pockets, really. We'll charge it back to labels and clients, etc. So the artists and the music we are "celebrating" that one night of the year are the ones footin' the bill. Well, that's nice of us.
Now why again was the show moved to Atlanta? I mean, other than GMA is broke as a joke. Because it's going to air on GMC? And GMC is in Atlanta? OK, whatever.
I don't get it. And I don't like it.
And I still haven't decided if I'm going.
