This weekend isn't only Halloween/Harvest time. It's the Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington, D.C. with comedian and host of "The Daily Show" Jon Stewart.
Anyone going?
I wish I was.
Seriously, I wish I was going to be there. What an opportunity to see and meet a niche of American culture. National media might attempt to play up the rally but really how far does the cable show and its host reach? Isn't this just another niche market? Much like our Christian radio world. Can we learn something here?
Course, then again, Stewart hosted President Barak Obama on his show this week. And which of us have done that? So maybe he does have more clout than other niche markets out there.
Either way, there's something to learn here. The biggest thing being: find what your audience cares about and work for it. The point of Stewart's rally and his show in general is to find the humor in the news, to find some real sanity in what seems to be a whole lot of insanity and irresponsibility. We all could use some levity in our lives and worlds today. Are you offering that?
