The Timmies

Want to know why I love/hate the Dove Awards? Because most of the categories are based on voting power of the labels.

HOWEVER, at least the Gospel (in-the-hole, trying-to-climb-out) Music Association took their heads out of their butts to make Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year fan-voted. But one could argue that those categories should be called, "Whoever has the widest reaching social network."

Either way, the Doves were on this past Wednesday and the rest of the CCM world could probably care less since there was no GMA Week to be found. I believe GMA this year will go down as "Dove Day."

My favorite part about the Dove Awards though is the annual Timmies: The secret society of industry folk who hand out awards for ridiculous, yet not completely unreasonable awards. I would love to be part of this select few. Maybe we should have an identity swap so that I can get in on this elusive group: They could be me, and I could be them. I would have too much fun.
