Seriously, It Only Takes A Second to Say Thank You

Remember when we were polite? Grateful? Unassuming?
Remember when we were just pleased to be a part of this little business we call Christian music?
Man, those days are over.
I remember being fresh in the industry. I tried ridiculously hard not to become jaded, NOT to become that industry tool. You know, the one who flaunts to others outside the industry about what they do, who they hang with and what they got free tickets to. Those are the ones that made me throw up in my mouth.
Somewhere along the line, though, I, your dearly beloved Billy, I became that person. I can't pinpoint the day because it was a gradual move. But here I am.
And having first seen it in myself, might I say that I see it in others.
And what I see makes me truly afraid that those in power seats at radio, at records and elsewhere have gradually moved toward that too greedy, too assuming, too much of a tool position. So much so that they don't worry about the very industry we all work in. They take no simple pleasure in it anymore. Where's the gratefulness?
Can I just ask, please, that you watch yourself today? Don't be greedy and assuming. Say thanks to someone. Don't be one of those people; don't be like me, for goodness' sake.
