In one of Mark Ramsay's latest blog posts, he quotes a recent study that indicates that radio helps make artists successful and sell records.
Duh.
Did we seriously need four guys to develop a hypothesis, to find a strategy to gather data, to gather the data, to analyze the data and then to release their findings?!?! You have got to be kidding me. Talk about pork spending.
Just ask a label rep for a week-by-week digital sales breakdown of a single that is working up the charts. As more stations add, for the most part, single sales on iTunes and other digital retailers will rise. I don't need a radio consultant to tell me this. I learn this on a weekly phone call with a label rep.
Dear consultants, spend time teaching us how to further develop our radio stations in time of financial crisis, not about how we impact labels.
