I'm Sick

I'm sick of all the regurgitated worship lyrics in Christian music.
Seriously. I'd like to know what the writing process is for all of the new "hits" that keep getting played. How many times can I hear 30 different lyrics in the same song that have nothing to do with the actual song title or subject? Maybe as Christians we're just good at that because we can turn anything (and I mean ANYTHING) into a spiritual lesson.
The worst part of all this? Radio plays all the crap! Not that there aren't good songs out there worthy of being played. It's just that when we play the same song with different lyrics, we are hurting the very art that makes us successful. And we're encouraging it! We shouldn't be encouraging people to polish a terd. It can't be done.
Don't get me wrong. I definitely think it takes new thinking or new songs to relate to a new generation. But let's not compromise an art form for the sake of a radio hit or something that sounds like a nice little ditty.
Let's push the envelope for once. Take a chance. When you hear something different that you like, especially with a new take lyrically, play it! Let Becky decide in your research. Great programmers take risks, even if they don't pan out.
