I Want That Job

I saw in the industry news that WCVO/Columbus has added a new position, a Listeners Impression Agent. Apparently, part of this person's job is to communicate with the station's listeners via Facebook and Twitter all day everyday.
Seriously?
Sign me up.
Who has the good luck to actually find a job that pays one to Twitter and Facebook all day long? And who had the foresight (at WCVO) to actually hire someone to focus on that?
A position like this taps into that growing use of social media that we hear about everyday. WCVO isn't waiting around. They decided to tap into the trend today (whether it's here today and gone tomorrow or whether it's here to stay).
Granted, the Listeners Impression Agent probably has numerous other tasks on her plate. Certainly she's not SOLELY Twittering all day. BUT she is connecting with the WCVO audience via the social media that's being used today.
Maybe you can't afford a Twitter/Facebook agent. But is your station connecting with listeners through those social media outlets? Many stations are. Have an intern or trustworthy volunteer with some extra time and Twitter skills? It wouldn't take much to get started.
As we wait to see if Twitter and Facebook are long term social media outlets, I'm gonna go update my resume and see if I can find one of these jobs.
