Burned out.
You ever feel that way? You've been working your butt off for the past, what seems to be, 10,000 hours and nothing to show for it? Every day you sit at your desk and you can't seem to find gusto to turn a page and plow full steam ahead through that brick wall. You just hope and pray that what you're doing is enough to get by.
I think we've all been there. What makes people great is what they do in that moment.
Did you see the Keanu Reeves' movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? The planet is about to be destroyed because humans have been bad stewards of what's been given to them. The movie says that in that moment, when we are faced with a challenge and an outcome with which no one agrees, that is when we will make a permanent change in the way we conduct ourselves.
How about gas being $4 per gallon last year? Did you change some driving habits or cancel vacations?
Even so, when you hit that place "burnt out," leave what you're doing at that moment. Get away from it. Don't move on to something else; just leave. Go relax. Go to Starbucks. Just chill out. Turn your cell phone off.
And remember why you chose to enter your profession. Remember the excitement you had on that first day of work. Remember getting out of school to finally pursue the dream you had since the beginning. Above all, remember that God put you here on this planet for a purpose and every day he lets you live that out.
