It's the End of the World As We Know It. Not.

Wanna know how many tears I cried when I heard R&R was going out of business?
Zero.
Here's why.
You have to remember that this is America; businesses fail every day. Capitalism is what this country was founded on. Some businesses succeed; others fail. Any idea how many Mom & Pop places have gone under since Wal-Mart came into your town? Exactly.
Everyone lost it was because R&R handled this like an amateur starting to juggle; instead of starting with tennis balls they started with chainsaws and bowling pins on fire.
They put out a press release saying they were closing with no attention to the stations and labels it affected. No more, no less. Talk about a publicity nightmare. I hope you sent tons of calls into R&R asking what was happening because they deserved it. Even the information that came in the following days was leaked from labels to stations or vice versa because no one knew what was going on.
What do we learn from this? Yes, it's sad that a publication that's been in print for 30-plus years goes away. But this is the day and age of entrepreneurship. Someone comes along and fills the void. Out with the old, in with the new.
And if everything else fails, you'll have Billboard to keep you company on the john.
