Boarding

Out of six flights in the last four months, only one flight departed and arrived as expected.

Being stuck on the tarmac, our delayed planes seem to be the norm. You can tell the “flight mood” when you board a plane by the type of greeting you get from the flight attendant. You can be met with nothing; a lack of awareness, or a smiling face with hand sanitizer packets.

Waddling down the aisle and waiting for people who are struggling with their overhead luggage is stressful. It’s a welcome sight when someone is more able to secure another person's suitcase overhead. I’m not sure why flight attendants don’t assist with this. You silently hear people think “What a good person they are for doing that.”

Once the boarding process is finished, safety guidelines are implemented and then the pilot might give a greeting. This is another place that can set a tone for this flight, just the sound of the overhead message. Unless you’re sitting next to someone eating a bag of Mc Donald’s. If you know, you know. If you know and you do a radio show, every word and the delivery method, matters.
