CCM Coaching Tip #112: Why Hope Should Always Be the Focus

The other day, I was watching a rerun of “House” – the brilliant TV show with Hugh Laurie at its center playing a doctor. The episode was about a ridiculously wealthy man who was very ill, and in what he thought were his last days, was hoping for a reunion with an old girlfriend. (Their lives had gone in different directions.)
At the end of the show, his life had been saved, and the girlfriend does show up. Dr. House is his usual self, seemingly “glass half empty” about it. But a coworker pointed out that the patient was going to be fine “Because he’s hopeful. And every day you have hope, you’re happy.”
That thought should be at the center of what the CCM format is all about. What better representation of hope can there be than Jesus Christ?
If you’re not delivering the message that hope is here, available, today, right now, you’re missing the whole point. If you need a Consultant to help you, call my partner John Frost. When you need a Talent Coach to flesh this out on the air, I know one.
