So What Are You Supposed To Be?

Aren't you glad you don't get that question EVERY day of the year?
That would be pretty weird, wouldn't it?But if you get that query around this time of year, it seems fairly natural.
Because we are masquerading as characters that are different than ourselves.
We're playing dress-up! It's Halloween!
And we'd be kind of offended if we DIDN'T get the question.
It would be pretty embarrassing if no one noticed. In our normal, run-of-the-mill, scattershot days, folks should know what to expect from us.
How we dress, how we act, what character we portray….and what we expect in return (trick or treat?).Can folks make a safe assumption of how you'll act or respond on a given day?
Or are they "answering the door" wondering what you'll be dressed up as?
What will you be asking them for this time?
Are you the kind, gentle, helpful character?
Or is it the devilish troll from somewhere deep under the bridge? As impishly simple as that sounds, I believe we should take a careful look at our costume.
AFTER all the Halloween parties.
And examine just what message we are sending.Take a post-Halloween selfie.
Do you like what you see?
If not, change it.You're in charge of your costume.
Nobody's dressing you up anymore.
Choose your character carefully, though…
….because this one has true consequences. -
