You walk into a room of people, and the laughter & conversation suddenly stops.
Immediately, you jump to the conclusion that they were talking & laughing about you.
But they weren't...they just respect you, and didn't want to miss what you had to say.
Things aren't always what they seem.
First week on the job. Everybody's friendly, helpful, positive & encouraging.
Second week on the job. Business as usual, backstabbing anonymous, dysfunction prevails.
Things aren't always what they seem.
No matter what the situation or circumstances, people will always let you down.
Because they are people. People are fallible. People get tired. People are people.
And people....no matter how gifted, talented, committed or sincere....will disappoint.
Our job, should we decide to accept it, is to look past that disappointment, and see the person.
See the man fighting depression. See the woman with a broken heart.
See the people around us for what they are.....imperfect, broken, seeking, hurting.
That guy at work who acts like a primo jerk? That girl who is two barks short of a bitch?
It's not you. You are not the problem. It's not personal.
Their hurt is screaming inside, tearing them apart.
They are trying their best to just get through the day.
Things aren't always what they seem.
Look past the obvious, and see the opportunity.
You just might be the lifeline that keeps them breathing for one more day. -
