Jesus Can't Swim

Now, please bear with me for just a moment before you bring out the pitchforks, hand-grenades and heresy oil for boiling! There is a point here, and that point is NOT to belittle Jesus.

The following observation is from someone who's not a Cowboy fan, but who thoroughly enjoyed the slugfest this past week between Manning & Romo, Cowboys vs. Broncos, final score 51-48.

I find it interesting that people focus on the perceived failure and forget the spectacular accomplishment. Had Romo not played record setting football on Sunday, the Cowboys wouldn't even have been in the same zip code with the Broncos in the 4th quarter. Both defenses were atrocious. The Dallas defense gave up 51 points. And yet we want to blame Tony Romo for "losing" the game by 3, because he failed while trying to bring his team back from the brink.

Life is full of wins, losses, and people who are quick to focus on failure. Only pay attention to them if they're walking back to their own huddle. Don't let the roar of the spectators cloud your focus or spoil your perception. They are on the sidelines. You are in the middle of the action. And you're making a difference.

Tony Romo played the game of his LIFE last week, with over 500 yard passing and five touchdowns! Yet the headlines on the following day read, "Romo Throws Interception In Cowboys Loss". That's utterly ridiculous! The same people, if they were to witness Jesus walking on the water, shortly after He calmed the winds and the waves, would probably pen the headline, "Jesus Can't Swim".

There will always be cynics, haters, "realists" and deadbeats. There will most certainly be someone who's quick to remind you that what you're trying is impossible and that you should just crawl back into the bucket with the rest of the crabs!

But don't listen to the crowd. They're not in the same game. If they're not in your huddle, or walking back to one of their own, don't listen. They are a distraction at best, and a landmine at worst. Focus on what you know you're called to do, and make the decisions in the line of fire that you believe will give you the best chance to win.
