By John Frost,
Goodratings Strategic ServiceIt was a fun time at Momentum in Orlando. We heard some amazing music, reconnected with old friends, and sat through some stimulating sessions with the likes of Dan Wilt, Pat Williams, Bob Coy, Jay Frank, Jacquelyn Bullerman, and Bob Goff.
He's a question for you. After hearing these people give new insights what have you taken back to your station to make it better? Maybe it starts with something as simple as circulating this programming tip to members of your team each week.
"Intelligent people are always eager and ready to learn." Proverbs 18:15
It's exciting to be stimulated with new ideas but I know there are some, like my friend Ralph (not his real name) will go back to their station and do nothing. Unfortunately Ralph has decided that he already knows everything. He now spends a lot of energy guarding that image. (My guess is that right now you're thinking of someone like that in your company. Sad, isn't it?). Fortunately for Ralph his company has set the bar very, very low. He'll stay there for years and years, and find it very difficult to be hired at a better station.
"When do you think most people stop learning?
Is it when we already know how to do something? Is it when we have some success under our belts? Is it when we imagine there's nothing left to learn, no one knows something we don't, or when we come to believe we know it all? Whenever it is, it's too soon, and it's too bad, because we've always got a lot to learn...no matter how much we already know." Mark Beeson
"Do yourself a favor and learn all you can; then remember what you learn and you will prosper." Proverbs 19:8
