We're always thankful.
At least we should be.
But our awareness gets ratcheted up at this time of year.
And we focus on the things we are most thankful for.Family. Health. Provision. Joy.
Those are easy.
Who wouldn't be thankful for those things? But what about clean socks.
Clothes with holes where they are SUPPOSED to be.
$200 jeans with legs looking like they've endured a six day war.
The things we take for GRANTED, are what others would call LUXURIES.Clean water?
"Oh, that tap water tastes horrible"
Yeah, but do you get dysentery from drinking it?
I didn't think so.
80% of the world would be crying tears of thanks for that water.Roof over your head?
"We have got to get a bigger house".
Do you realize that many families of 6-8-10 and larger all live and sleep in one room?
Often without decent shelter from the elements. The list could go on and on.
That USED car...those OLD shoes....this DEAD END job.
All things that others would be grateful to receive.
Yet we, at best, tolerate till something better comes along. This year, let's stop and look around us at the things that are most obvious.
But maybe not the most noticed.
And turn up our year-round thanks a notch or two or three.Thankfulocityism.
It makes you smile to just say it out loud.
Give it a whirl.
And then spread it around. -
