Community

Community is so important. (At least in my humble but accurate opinion.)

So how do you "do" community?

Through being at local events? Being in parades? Promo and sticker stops at a local gas station? All good things.

But to be local, to "do" community, you need to be present. Wherever you are physically, be there. Your whole self. It's not just enough to show up at the parade or to dumbly hand out stickers at the stop. You have to be present and engaged.

Don't stand there thinking about what is on your to-do list or thinking about whatever crap you have going on at the office. Be where you and be there to listen. Even when people are annoying.

Because everyone has a voice. So listen. Be present. Do community, for real.
