And the Dove Award Goes to...

I didn't go to the show. Who wants to drive to Atlanta for that?
I watched it via Twitter. I watched the congratulations to winners filter through my timeline and the ongoing commentary from folks in attendance (you see, I am not @DoveJokes or @BetterDoveJokes).
That was the best way to see the show. I have no intention of watching or recording it when it airs on GMC-TV.
I get the feeling there was less controversy this year. At least in terms of who won. Most people seemed to think things turned out fairly (unlike last year's uproar). Though I have to ask, "Jason Crabb? Artist of the Year? Over Lecrae or GRAMMY WINNER Laura Story?"
I will send my congratulations to Jason Crabb; he probably deserves the award to some degree. And maybe as much as the other nominees in the category this year.
I guess my next thought is, "How much do the Dove Awards matter these days?" I know there are others out there asking the same question. I guess I used to care about them but now I'm so busy with the day-to-day battle that one night just comes and goes without much fanfare in my life.
What do you guys think? Does the title "Dove Award winner" matter when someone is pitching you a song? Do your listeners care and do they even have GMC-TV to watch the show?
It just seems like the Dove Awards are a bit of a joke, which makes the Twitter account very relevant. Even if the awards themselves are not.
