You've Been Punk'd

Did you see this story on All Access Net News - "CMT Presents Special Airing of MTV's PUNK'D featuring Taylor Swift"?

Seems sweet Taylor Swift was pranked by dear Justin Beiber. To her complete horror.

I haven't seen the episode but I want to find it somewhere online. I think I'd enjoy the laugh a) at the joke and b) a little at Taylor.

Practical jokes can be funny, maybe a little cruel, but more funny. Then again, I've never been at the receiving end of prank. I have a pretty good sense of humor and while I might feel the sting, I think I could laugh it off. I hope so.

I wish I heard about more silly stunts in our radio world. Laughter is the best medicine, and in today's crazy world, in addition to the hope of Jesus, we need laughter. So why don't we do more silly pranks on the air and such? Are we too afraid of hurting feelings? Can we get some nominees from listeners of people who could take the joke?

Whether people admit it out loud or not, they love shows like "Punk'd" or the new Betty White show "Off Their Rockers" or even the old "Candid Camera." Or the show "Wipeout." I laugh harder at that show when people slam their face into a pylon and land in the water.

So why can't we do more of that in Christian radio? Find the willing and able parties to be involved. Do it live on the air. Capture it on video at live broadcasts. Make it elaborate or make it simple. Just make us laugh.
