Get Off Your (Insecure) Throne

Get off your high horse and quit dragging artist names through the mud.
I, for one, am tired of it.
The PD Forum recently got a hold of a Matt Papa blog in which he decided he would like to express his opinion on Christian radio and why he thinks it is in a horrible state. Find the blog here: http://mattpapa.com/2012/01/jesus-isnt-safe-an-appeal-to-christian-radio-and-its-listeners/
Once radio saw it, it seemed as though everyone flew off the handle (thank God for the few exceptions).
"How could he write this?"
"He wrote it because his single isn't getting added!"
"What has he done for Christian radio lately?"
You know comments like that with a few "Oh, here we go again, ala Shaun Groves and Derek Webb."
Come on. Get over yourself. Someone criticized our industry. Big whoopie-freaking-do. Critics are everywhere, and you start crying foul when an artist says something like this? But he didn't just say it, he WROTE it...in a BLOG! Not the sharpest arrow to fire into a massive industry to try and get it to change.
What do I think? I'm glad that you asked. I think we're all insecure about the job we do. That's why we get defensive. And that's exactly what we did here. We got defensive because we think the job we're doing isn't good enough when someone shines a light down on us.
If the work that you are doing is truly reaching people, meeting needs, and being the hands and feet of Jesus to your listeners, then I think you're doing a great job.
Get over the critics. Be confident in your work.
And if you can't be confident, then get your butt in gear.
