Now That I've Seen It

Last week I wondered at the need for another social media platform. That of Google+.
Well, now that I've seen it, I have to say, "Yes, this might actually prove helpful."
Check out this article from Jacobs Media's Digital and Social Strategist and AllAccess.com contributor Lori Lewis: Going 'Round in Circles
Here Lori discusses how the Circles aspect of Google+ actually makes your message more specific to your audience. Rather than maintain several pages on Facebook, you can maintain one profile and just select which Circle gets to see the information. You control how the information is shared with which people.
The problem I do see: You need a Google account to be deeply involved. And for those who have yet to graduate from an AOL account, they'll only see the news you send by email, and not in the nice pretty Google+ layout. Not a complete wash but something to consider.
So, are you in for another social media component? Or are you still having trouble navigating the likes of Facebook and Twitter? Do you have that Social Media Guru on staff that is willing to test the waters for you? And in those ever-changing waters of technology and connectivity, can you afford to not dive in?
