It doesn’t matter if you’ve had a show for less than a year or have been doing an on-air shift or podcast for a very long time. If you’re being honest with yourself, you can probably identify some crutches or even admit that you have a blind spot …or two. Most people do. One bad habit that pops up in my coaching sessions is a symptom of a problem. The problem is either a lack of confidence or simply not being prepared and just winging it.
HERE’S THE SYMPTOM
Repeating yourself is one bad habit that you can remove from your show, and it instantly improves things. If you find yourself constantly repeating, you may be coming across like an elementary school teacher who’s helping her students learn basic subtraction. Imagine how your listeners feel about themselves and you in that scenario.
HERE’S THE TAKEAWAY
Collect your thoughts. Trust your storytelling. Know where your conversation is going. If your on-air break has a start, journey, and destination there’s no need to repeat anything.
