Instagram has revealed a bit of how to increase discovery and reach with Reels:

Why do we see the content we do? Here are following are the signals not only that we give Instagram – but how you’re seen and discovered in others’ Reels feeds:
Plus, Instagram offered what they avoid recommending for others to discover you:
- Low resolution or watermarked (repurposed with the Tik Tok logo) Reels.
- Reels that focus on political issues.
- Reels that are made by political figures, parties, or government officials or on their behalf.
(And that makes sense – Instagram Reels is designed for more lightweight, entertaining content.)
So, there’s the technical part of Reels.
What still matters more:
Consistency
Relatability
Interesting
Interacting
Everything about the social space is a learning process.
Keep showing up – get the ‘reps’ in – meaning keep creating content.
