20 Remarkable Things Said About Radio
September 24, 2013

Radio conferences can challenge our thought process and maybe even get us to think about things differently.
There were two great events last week with the Public Radio Program Director Conference in Atlanta, and the NAB/RAB Radio Show in Orlando.
It's inspiring to actually see – face to face - radio colleagues and catch up with them. And on a professional level, anytime we have the opportunity to listen, learn, and take away a new thought or two that makes us stronger - we should jump at the chance.
There was so much to hear from the minds of those who work in the public radio sector that anyone on the commercial side of the street really could benefit from (and vice versa).
Below is a very brief "highlight Twitter reel," important words that resonated so much during the radio gatherings – your colleagues wanted you to "hear" it, too:
Over in Orlando, Entercom CEO David Field charged the room up with his forward thinking and matter of fact statements. One of which was "Radio continues to thrive" despite new-tech competitors."
And following that, attendees shared other significant statements made by NAB presenters and panelists:
But it was this line by Fred Jacobs that not only resonated socially among the platforms but within the walls of the NAB and RAB, too:
In fact, you will hear more in depth "digital dash" talk when the radio and automotive industries come together at the Dash Conference Oct. 23rd and 24th.
We really do miss the opportunity to recharge when we skip out on these radio gatherings. They remind us of what our mission in radio is all about, while discussing the progress and challenges in the industry.
Other important events coming up are the Arbitron Client Conference and Jacobs Media Summit Dec. 11th and 12th and of course The Worldwide Radio Summit 2014 sponsored by All Access, Apr. 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
On behalf of Jacobs Media, I hope to see you there!
You might just have the same feeling (and perhaps a little reminder of what it was like when you were starting your career) that young, upcoming broadcaster Tyler Lockhart had as he tweeted this:
These conferences mentioned are great places to learn, recharge, and be inspired.
